A multitude of children need and want love and security in a family home. Some of these children have been neglected or abused. Some come from broken homes; some suffer from family problems, or the death of one or both parents.For many of these children, a desirable solution to their problems is found in care provided by foster homes. A Christian home with an extra measure of love to share with them may be their answer. Each year, hundreds of boys and girls of all ages and ethnic groups need the love and care of a Christian foster parent Are you up to the challenge? Take a moment to complete the survey below. If you can answer yes to most of the questions, you may be interested in opening your home and heart to a child.

Does your family have a happy stable Christian life together?
Do you love children and enjoy them 24 hours a day?
Do you have enough space in your house for a child to have a bed of their own in a bedroom?
Could you take care of an active child or a baby who might cry at night?
Are you and your family in good health?
Could you accept the fact that a foster child will most likely return to his own home or be placed elsewhere?
Could you encourage the child to maintain relationships with members of his birth family?
Could you be patient with a child as they make adjustments to living your way - until you have gained his love and confidence?

Foster Parent Requirements

We believe that children in our care are best cared for by Christian parents.

During the screening process these parents must demonstrate an understanding of the basic teachings of Christianity and demonstrate active compliance with those tenants. Christian foster parents must be active practicing members of a New Testament church.
Prospective foster parents must be 21 years of age or older, renting or buying a residence which meets State of Illinois standards to allow foster children to be placed there, and have a stable income.
As a foster parent, you are expected to be understanding, patient and trusting, and able to provide a safe, secure, stable and loving home for these children.
Foster parents are a member of a team of professionals, working together to meet the needs of a child placed in their care.
Foster parents, with the help of the professional staff at ICM, are allowed to choose the age range, sex, and functioning level of a child placed in their home.

All foster homes must meet minimum standards as established by the State of Illinois to become licensed. The license is free. A licensing representative from Illini Christian Ministries does the family home study. Applicants are fingerprinted, and background checks are made. The twenty-seven (27) hours of mandatory FosterPRIDE training for a foster license is provided. Training as Education Advocate, 6 hours, is also required. These trainings help to prepare foster parents for their new role.
